The Owl House starts with a familiar setup - ordinary kid stumbles into a magic world - and then does something unusual with it. Luz Noceda doesn't turn out to be secretly chosen. She's just a human with no talent for magic who decides to learn it anyway, badly, by copying glyphs she finds lying around.
The Boiling Isles is one of the better-designed fantasy settings in recent animation, largely because it's built on the corpse of a titan and nobody there finds that strange. Covens organise magic into approved categories. Eda refuses to join one, which makes her a criminal and, more importantly, an excellent mentor.
The supporting cast is where the show earned its following. King's enormous ego in a very small body. Hooty, who is a house and a nightmare and a friend. Amity Blight's slow, awkward journey from rival to something much softer. Emperor Belos as a villain whose politeness is the scariest part.

If you're still not over how it ended, a cursor is a reasonable way to keep a bit of the Isles on your screen.
