Console hardware design is a strange discipline. The box sits under a television for seven years, so it has to look current for a very long time, and the controller has to feel right in millions of differently sized hands.
Some of the shapes became more iconic than the games. The DualShock's twin-stick layout is now simply what a controller is. The Switch's detachable sides looked like a gimmick and turned out to be the best idea Nintendo had in a decade. Xbox went the other way and built something that felt like it was engineered rather than styled.
The colour coding does an enormous amount of work too. Green means one thing, blue means another, red means Nintendo, and console loyalty was built on associations that strong.
This collection covers the machines and their controllers, plus a few peripherals, drawn cleanly enough to read at pointer size.
Good for anyone whose desk already has at least two of these under it. Pick your platform, or don't - nobody's checking.
