Collection Invincible

Invincible spends its first episode looking like a straightforward story about a teenager inheriting his father's powers, and then does something so violent that the entire premise reorganises around it. Robert Kirkman built the comic on that structure and the adaptation is faithful to it.

Omni-Man is one of the great superhero antagonists precisely because he's a good father for most of his screen time. The series' central question isn't whether he can be beaten - it's what a son does with the knowledge of what his father actually is.

Mark works because he's genuinely inexperienced. He loses fights, he makes bad calls, and the show lets consequences accumulate rather than resetting each episode. Very few superhero stories are willing to let the hero be this fallible for this long.

The animation deliberately keeps a comic-book look, and the fight choreography is unusually brutal about what invulnerable people do to a city.
