Collection Future Diary

Future Diary is a survival game anime where twelve people are given phones that predict the future in different ways and told that the last one alive becomes a god. The diaries have specific limitations, which is what makes the game interesting rather than arbitrary.

Yuno Gasai is the reason it's remembered. She is the character who defined the yandere archetype for a whole generation of anime fans - devoted to Yukiteru past any reasonable limit and entirely willing to remove obstacles, including people, including his friends.

The series is at its best when it's a puzzle. Each diary holder's power has a blind spot, and the killings are usually solved by working out what someone's phone cannot tell them.

Yukiteru's transformation from a boy who writes down observations to someone capable of playing the game is uncomfortable and deliberate.
