Collection Dr. Stone

Dr. Stone begins with everyone on Earth turning to stone, and then, thousands of years later, one teenager waking up and deciding to rebuild the entire scientific record from first principles.

It's the rare shonen where the power system is literally just knowledge. Senku wins by understanding chemistry - making soap, then antibiotics, then gunpowder, then a telephone - and the manga shows the working. Riichiro Inagaki consulted actual scientists, and the recipes are broadly real.

That gives the series an unusual satisfaction. Each arc is a technology tree, and the tension is whether Senku can get from what he has to what he needs before the antagonist does. Ten billion percent, as he'd put it.

Chrome is the best character in it: a village boy with no education who was independently doing science anyway, badly, out of pure curiosity.
