Collection Villainous

Villainous is a Mexican-produced Cartoon Network series about a company that sells equipment to supervillains. It's framed as a series of infomercials, which is a brilliant excuse for a show that mostly consists of a demonic CEO being cruel to his staff.

Black Hat is the draw. He's a genuinely menacing character in a comedy - eldritch, immaculately dressed, and entirely willing to end an employee mid-sentence. Most cartoon villains are defanged for the audience. Alan Ituriel's creation is not, and the show is much funnier for it.

The staff make up the rest of the joke. Dr. Flug is the anxious engineer doing all the actual work with a paper bag over his head. Demencia is chaos with a crush on her boss. 5.0.5 is a large blue bear who wanted to be a flower and got made by accident, and he's doing his best.

The animation is sharp, the palette is all black, red and acid green, and the whole thing runs on the energy of a workplace comedy where HR does not exist.

This collection covers the cast and their gadgets. Recommended if you like your desktop with a little menace.
