Terraria came out a year after Minecraft and spent a long time being described as its two-dimensional cousin, which undersells it badly. Where one game is about building, this one is about progression - a long chain of bosses, each gating the materials you need for the next.
The scale of it is quietly absurd. Re-Logic have released major free updates for over a decade, several of which were announced as the final one. There are thousands of items, dozens of bosses, whole biomes with their own enemy sets, and a hardmode that rewrites the world after you beat the Wall of Flesh.
The pixel art is a big part of why it endures. Everything is legible at a tiny size, the NPCs have real personality in about twenty pixels each, and boss designs like the Eye of Cthulhu are memorable purely on silhouette.
The town-building loop is underrated too - NPCs move in when conditions are met, and each one has opinions about their neighbours.
This collection covers NPCs, bosses and gear in the game's own pixel style. Grab a pickaxe for your pointer.
