The Loud House is about one boy, ten sisters, and a queue for the bathroom that never ends. Chris Savino based it loosely on his own childhood in a large family, and the show's best instinct is that chaos is the setting, not the plot.

Giving each sister a single strong trait was the smart structural call. Lori has the phone, Luna has the guitar, Lynn has the sport, Lola has the tiara, Lucy has the poetry and the vents. With eleven kids you need shorthand, and the design does that work so the writing can be about the friction between them.

Lincoln himself is a middle child in the truest sense - constantly negotiating, constantly scheming, and usually the one who has to fix whatever the scheming caused. His plans have a reliable structure: clever setup, immediate collapse, sisters bailing him out.

The show also quietly became one of Nickelodeon's more progressive properties, with Clyde's two dads treated as entirely unremarkable, which is exactly how it should be.
