Collection Fall Guys

Fall Guys launched in the summer of 2020 and briefly became the only thing anyone was playing. Sixty small beans in a battle royale made of obstacle courses, and nobody could shoot anybody. It was the least hostile competitive game in years and the timing was perfect.

The physics are the joke. The beans are top-heavy, have no grip, and flail constantly, so even winning looks undignified. Mediatonic clearly tuned for comedy rather than precision, and the result is a game where losing is almost as entertaining as winning.

The costumes did enormous work for the game's identity. A pineapple, a hot dog, a dragon that flops over - customisation with no competitive value at all, purely for the visual.

Door Dash, where several doors are fake, remains one of the purest expressions of a game design idea: you have no information and you must run anyway.
