Collection Big City Greens

Big City Greens is about a farm family that moves to a city and refuses to adapt. Chris and Shane Houghton based it on growing up in rural Michigan, and that specificity is why it works - the Greens aren't rubes, they just have a completely different set of assumptions about how anything should be done.

Cricket is the engine. He's a ten-year-old with the confidence of a much older con artist and no concept of consequences, and most episodes are simply the fallout of a plan he thought was excellent. His sister Tilly is stranger and gentler, and the pairing gives the show two very different flavours of chaos.

Bill's tired patience and Gramma Alice's total lack of it fill out the household nicely. Alice in particular is one of the better-written grandmothers in animation, largely because the show lets her be genuinely unpleasant sometimes.

The art style is clean and bright with a real sense of place - the city is drawn as a specific city, not a generic one.
